Fast Track FAQs
What is the Fast Track Apprenticeship Program?
The Fast Track Apprenticeship Program is a program that gives employees an opportunity to grow within their position, and with each step, gain more expertise, more earning potential and college credit toward an Associate Degree!
What tracks are available?
As of January 2018, there are two tracks available: Nurse Aide and Culinary. Additional tracks will be added so if your passion isn’t offered just yet, stay tuned for future releases!
What are the options within the Nurse Aide Track?
There are three levels within the Nurse Aide track:
Level 1 - Nurse Aide Certification: This level is for employees who are not currently licensed CNAs. Partnerships with accredited institutions, such as Ivy Tech, allow employees to complete their CNA certification (for FREE!) during this level.
Level 2 – Advanced CNA Certification: This level is open to all licensed CNAs and, through a combination of online content taken via emerge, on the job learning, and competency validation, graduates of this level will achieve the title of Advanced CNA.
Level 3 – Specialty Certifications: This level consists of five specialties and applicants of this level will apply for a specific specialty. The specialties are: Dementia Care, Geriatric, Safety, Qualified Medication Aid (QMA), and Preceptor.
What are the options within the Culinary Track?
The Culinary track offers three levels: Level 1 – Assistant Cook, Level 2 - Cook, Level 3 – Lead Cook. All content for the Culinary track is taken online through a third party called Rouxbe. You will access Rouxbe via emerge.

Yes! Completion of each level within a track is associated with a pay increase ranging from $.25/hr to $1/hr.
Will I receive a pay increase if my hourly rate is above the maximum of the SHIP+ wage range?
Yes! The maximums of the salary range will not be applied for pay increases associated with the completion of a level in the Apprenticeship Program.
Will I receive college credit if I complete this program?
Yes! You will have the potential to earn up to 20 hours toward an Associate Degree upon completion. What are the requirements to apply for a track? In order to be eligible for the Fast Track Apprenticeship Program, employees must meet the following requirements: Full-time 90-days in current role In good standing – no write-ups Three or less attendance points
How do I know if I’ve been approved?
A congratulatory email will be sent to you with instructions on your next step(s).
If I wasn’t approved, can I try again?
The short answer is yes, but there are two scenarios with this question. If you weren’t approved because you didn’t meet the eligibility requirements, you may reapply once that has been rectified. If you weren’t approved because your ED feels there isn’t a need for that role in your campus, you may reapply for a different track or wait until there is a need for your initial request and reapply at that time.
How will I receive communications about my track?
Most communications will be sent via email so it is extremely important that your email address is current and accurate in ADP Vantage. To Enter/Update your email in ADP Vantage, access ADP Vantage and click on Myself - Personal Information - Phone/Email/Contact tab - then enter your email address in the Personal field. Ensure the 'Use for Notifications' radio button is selected next to the Personal field.
Do I complete my apprenticeship on the clock?
You are receiving credit for “hours worked” so your regularly scheduled time spent working is counted toward completion of your apprenticeship. However, there are some online and external components to the program (such as emerge courses and third-party classes). These components should be completed on your own time and not during work hours.
What if I don’t have access to a computer?
If you do not have access to a computer, please work with your campus to utilize the emerge computer to complete the online components of your program.
How long do I have to complete my approved track?
The requirements for each track vary so there’s not a set time for completion. Because this is a self-paced program, individuals can complete the tracks at their convenience.
What happens when I’ve completed my track?
Once you’ve completed all requirements of your track, you will be able to print a Certificate of Completion from emerge. Present this certificate to your campus leader so they can begin the process to update your title and pay rate.
Can I complete more than one track?
Absolutely! As long as all eligibility requirements are met, you may complete multiple tracks. When can I apply for another level within a track? Per the eligibility requirements, you must be in your current role for 90 days before you are eligible to apply for the next level. For example, if you are currently a CNA and are approved for the Advanced CNA, you must complete that track and be in the Advanced CNA role for 90 days before you can apply for a Specialty Certification.
